Three Simple Quick Kids Snacks to Try – Our Favorites

Ingredients

Kids love snacks! I don’t know one toddler that can go without at least one snack during the day. My 3 1/2 year old, Hope, probably has upwards of ten snacks a day – she’s constantly eating… all the time. Her sister, Grace, who just turned one, not too long ago, is definitely a little snacker too. I feel like that makes me an expert on kids snacks!

Below are three of our favorites that we hope you’ll love too! They are fast, easy and super simple. They are recognizable and popular, but we have a different way of making these items for snack time. They’re interactive. My girls love helping me make their snacks which makes them fun and also a bit more enjoyable to eat. Who doesn’t love to play with food?

Pizza with Fun Shaped Pepperoni

Ingredient List: Bread Base – I use Naan which you can find at any grocery store – Marinara Sauce – Shredded Mozzarella Cheese – Large Pepperoni (I use the larger ones, it allows for more space to use a cookie cutters for fun shapes) – Fresh Parmesan (optional)

Kids Snacks: Pizza Ingredients

Our whole family loves pizza! This “snack” is also great for lunch or dinner as well. This past summer my oldest daughter, Hope and I were introduced to making these by my Mother-In-Law. It was such a fun idea! She bought Naan bread which we used for the crust. We then put on marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese. Then, to top the pizza we used pepperoni, but instead of just putting it on the pizza, we used small cookie cutters to make them into fun shapes. It was a blast for Hope to be interactive in making this snack and now she asks to make them all the time. She is able to pretty much build the whole pizza by herself and it makes her so proud!

Kids Snacks: Pepperoni Cut Outs

We usually make two pizzas and end up using the cut shaped pepperoni on one and the pepperoni we used to cut out the shapes on the other pizza. I bake them at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 12 – 15 minutes or until the cheese is completely melted. If you want to brown the cheese a bit, feel free to place them under the broiler for about 3 – 5 minutes. Take them out and sprinkle parmesan cheese on top, cut, serve and enjoy!

Fun Frozen Yogurt Bites

Ingredient List: Any type of yogurt you and your kids love

Kids Snacks

This is actually refrigerated yogurt, not the ice cream type frozen yogurt. My youngest, Grace will go crazy for theses, and Hope likes them too, she just doesn’t jump up and down in her Chair like Grace!

To make these, find your kid’s favorite yogurt and make small bite sized dots that the kids can easily pop into their mouths. My kids love vanilla and blueberry the most. I take the yogurt and place it in a small ziplock bag, cut the tip and then squeeze the desired amount for each bite onto a sheet tray lined with parchment paper. I then place in the freezer for about an hour. Take them out and serve right away. You’ll have frozen yogurt bites that the kids love and they are super easy to eat too! You can also store in a ziplock bag in the freezer for a fast treat. This is definitely a year round healthy snack my kids enjoy.

Apples with a Peanut Butter Chocolate Swirl Dip

Ingredient List: Apples – Peanut Butter – Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Kids Snacks: Ingredients

Both of my girls love apples, so we eat them a lot. However, sometimes, I will make a peanut butter chocolate swirl dip that they both adore. It’s another snack they can be apart of making.

I start with cutting up an apple. I cut straight through the apple width wise because my girls love seeing the “star” in the center of the slices. Make them about a quarter of an inch thick. Next, I place a 1/2 cup of peanut butter in a bowl and set aside. In another (microwave safe) bowl I place about a 1/4 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and place in the microwave for intervals of 15 seconds until melted. I then place the chocolate in the peanut butter and we swirl it in. Hope is always ready with her spoon ready to make her masterpiece. I then take the apple slices and spread it on and add a few small chocolate chips for the finishing touch.
